Tourism Development Challenges in Nordic and Baltic Countries

Tourism is very important economic sector which influences economic growth and employment in countries and in the whole Europe in general.

Nordic and Baltic countries have unique nature, culture, history, languages and traditions. This heritage can be successfuly shown for tourists from all over the world. Besides, the nature of our countries is very well preserved, that is why there are many opportunities for ecological and sustainable tourism. On the other hand because of climate particularity the tourism of Nordic and Baltic countries we can describe like highly seasonal. This fact leads to the following challenges:

  • Touristic services providers do not have steady means of subsistance;
  • Enterpreneurs having ideas of touristic business are in a state of uncertainty;
  • Young people with innovative ideas are leaving to other regions/countries.

Especially this problem is very actual in geographically isolated regions. All facts, mentioned above, impede tourism development in Nordic and Baltic countries.

The main aim of the project – to create Sustainable and Innovative Tourism Network of Nordic and Baltic Countries.

The network organizations will help each other and individual people with initiatives to educate on establishment and successfuly running of tourism services, thus to contribute to tourism development, entrepreneurship promotion and reduction of unemployment rat, especially in geogrphically isolated regions of the countries. After the project network organisations will improve their non-formal learning materials on the basis good practice examples and tailor them to adult learners needs in geographically disadvantged places.
